Building on Success in Reading

Network Rail Reading Station Re-Development

Reading Station is undergoing a major transformation programme as part of the wider £850m Reading Improvement scheme. While Reading Borough Council is delivering improvements to public spaces at the front and rear of the station, Network Rail is delivering the station and track upgrade that began in 2010 and is due to be completed by summer 2015, one year ahead of schedule.

H&M Security was delighted to be chosen as the 1st choice security provider for this project in 2010, and extremely proud of our achievements since then.

Metal theft has been a major threat to the programme. The high price of metal has seen cable theft gangs operating across the country, but working with the project, local police and British transport police theft and possible disruption to the project have been kept to a minimum, and when there have been attacks on the cable early identification of offenders have resulted in arrests.

Disruption to services through trespass, vandalism and criminal damage is also a threat. High levels of trackside activity and events like the Reading Music Festival increase the risk of disruption, but Network Rails figures show that despite higher levels of activity disruption to services have fallen year on year.

Building on this success, and the skilled and highly professional team of officers we have built up over the past three years, H&M Security are keen to develop our relationship with businesses in Reading. We can offer a wide range of services including;

  1. Manned Guarding
  2. Front Office Security and Reception
  3. CCTV and Control Room Staff
  4. Mobile Patrols & Key Holding
