Tradeston Ex-Servicemen's Club

90th Anniversary Celebrations in London

Each year for the last ten years, H&M Security Managing Director, Ian Henderson has taken a number of ex-servicemen to different places in and around Europe including The Somme, France and Normandy, and Gibraltar. This year he brought them to London to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the club with several events planned over the course of three days.

Events started with the most important part of their trip, the laying of a wreath at the Churchill Memorial in Parliament Square, where a small church service was conducted and their own piper played. After the church service they were invited to the House of Commons by Deputy Speaker Eleanor Laing. She was kind enough to show them around the both the House of Commons and the House of Lords – the opportunity for a few once in a lifetime snaps was not missed.

The party then went on to the Special Forces club in Mayfair where they had lunch and between them raised £370.00 for Help For Heroes charity. Finally they headed, by way of a special invite as appreciation of the service that the men had done for the country, to the Dorchester for a champagne reception. For which they were very gracious and felt genuinely appreciated.

Over the next two days the men engaged in a number of other social events including dinner, dance and clay pigeon shooting, all before returning to Scotland for a well-earned rest.
